US unemployment rate escalated quickly

Last month 22 million Americans applied for unemployment benefits — easily the worst stretch of U.S. job losses on record. The losses translate to about 1 in 7 American workers. Economists said unemployment could reach 20% in April, the highest since the Depression of the 1930s.
