The launch of the first national cryptocurrency „petro“ comes as Venezuela suffers one of the biggest economic crises in Latin American history. Prices rose 6147 percent in the 12 months to the end of February… The IMF forecasts an inflation rate of 13000 per cent for 2018. Its economy has shrunk by about a third over the past five years and the International Monetary Fund expects gross domestic product to contract by 15 per cent this year.
