DDoS attacks cause the Three-Stooges-Syndrome

On Wednesday (28.02.2018) GitHub.com was unavailable from due to a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. The platform was hit by 1,35 terabits per second of traffic all at once. The attack originated from over a thousand different autonomous systems (ASNs) across tens of thousands of unique endpoints… It was the most powerful distributed denial of service attack recorded to date – and it used an increasingly popular DDoS method, no botnet required.
